Geocaching a Summer Day Away in Bemidji, Mn.

it's been awhile since I've been to Bemidji, Mn. double digit years to be exact.
we were looking for something to do this weekend fairly close to home, and Bemidji got the nod.
just another reason why geocaching is an awesome pastime for the family!! lol

our 1st stop was to say hi to Paul and Babe!!

there's supposedly a geocache on this dude, but it was very busy, and we didnt look for long.

next stop was the coolest cache of the day!!

i was all alone............................AT 1st...................

then.....................WOOOOOOOOOO.........

IT'S AN ACTUAL TRESURE CHEST!!

if i would've let them they would've jumped right down there!!lol

after a couple more finds, it was time for some grub, and then playtime at a very nice local park!!

after a good couple hours of play, it was time to head for home.

a couple more finds, and we were on our way.

anyway, a great way to spend a day!!

we will be back, for more than one day, and with our bikes!!!

Geocaching Lake Vermilion

Today we broke the boat out and cached the west side of Lake Vermilion, tomorrow we might just head back and cache from the center of the lake to the east, but we'll see!! :)) The only way to these geocaches is by water!!! COOL!!!!

LOL!!! both the little ones took this 4+ mile trip to catch a quick nap.

1/2 Day of Work = GREAT FUN!!!!

As i sit down to post this, I'm hammering down a nice steak off the grill, and a couple Summit ESB's!!! damn good if i do say so myself.
anyway, i bolted from work at 11!!!!! what?? my work was done, so "F" it!!!
i get home, pack up the kids and head out to do some geocaching, with the highlight of our 6 caches being Bird Lake (GCG3NX). what fun!!!!
we had about a .35 of a mile hike, and we found the cache in the 1st place we looked.
this cache has been out in the wild since 2003, and the poor coffee can hasn't held up well over time. so today the kids and i replaced the old beat up coffee can with a brand new ammo can!!!
anyway, it was a great day!!

Heading to the X.....................

Tomorrow Cindi and i will be heading to St. Paul to take in the Tom Petty concert at the Xcel Energy Center.
this will be Cindi's 13th time seeing Tom Petty, and my 1st.
she likes Petty, like i like The Tragically Hip!!!
I've seen the Hip 13 times also, it would've been 14, but they cancelled their last show in St. Paul last fall due to illness.
yes, I'm still kind of belly aching about it, but oh well.
anyway a good drive, and doing some geocaching along the way will be a great thing!!
with two young kids, we don't get to do to much by ourselves.
